Regarding the Catalogue of Doubted Texts: nearly seven hundred years have passed since the Indian scriptures were propagated eastward. The teachings have known flourish and decline, and the eras have changed. Across the successive translations, the fascicles count nearly in the tens of thousands. With the works and cases so vast, perusing them exhaustively is difficult. Those who fixed previous catalogues registered entries immediately upon hearing of them, without scrutinising their tenets closely, so that their reasoning may be doubted. Now, fearing that authentic and spurious texts may be intermingled, and right and wrong confounded, I have made this separate catalogue to show to the future, hoping that enlightened and eminent scholars will re-examine and determine them.
