20.18

（般若經建初者謂諸佛之母也舊錄之中編比無次今此錄中大小乘經皆以部類編為次第小乘諸律據本末而為備次大乘諸論以釋有經者為先集解義者列之於後小乘諸論據部次第發智為初六足居此毗婆沙等支派編末聖賢集傳內外兩分大夏神州東西有異欲使科條各別覽者易知）。

(The reason the Prajñā sūtras are established first is that [wisdom] is the mother of all Buddhas. In the older catalogues, the arrangement had no order. Now, in this catalogue, the Mahāyāna and Hīnayāna sūtras are all arranged in sequence according to their class and category: the Hīnayāna vinayas are arranged fully according to fundamental and derivative traditions; the Mahāyāna treatises place those that comment on an extant sūtra first and arrange those that collect and interpret meanings after them; the Hīnayāna treatises are arranged according to the sequence of their schools, with the Jñānaprasthāna first, the six Pādas following it, and the Vibhāṣās and other offshoots compiled at the end; the anthologies and biographies of sages and saints are divided into internal and external, since the Great Xia and the Divine Land differ as East and West. The aim is to make the categories distinct so that readers may easily understand them).
