Xin Huayan jing lun, one work in forty fascicles (including the preface; because of the date the scripture was presented, it is placed first here; it has a biographical sketch in one fascicle, which is sometimes placed after the first fascicle of the treatise, hence it is not listed separately); 900 sheets.
Cases [marked with the characters] gao, zhong, li, and qi; the one work above in forty fascicles comprises four cases.
The single treatise above was composed by the Elder Li Tongxuan in the seventeenth year of Kaiyuan at Daxian Village, Tongying Township, Yu County, northeast of Taiyuan, and circulates widely in the world. In the second year of Shengyuan, the monk Mianchang presented it and requested that it be compiled into the canon. Emperor Guangwen Suwu Xiaogao of the Great Tang ordered ten copies to be transcribed and ten scrolls of Elder Li's true portrait to be painted, distributed down to the various prefectures, and compiled at the end of the canon. He further decreed Vice Minister Sun Ji to compose a preface to be prefixed to the head of the treatise. Now it is therefore compiled here, so that hopefully nothing will be lost or omitted.
