Boundless wisdom is called the Buddha; supreme awakening is named the Tamer. Because his wisdom is boundless, there is nothing he does not know; because his awakening is supreme, his skillful means are difficult to fathom. Therefore, through various Dharma gates, he gathers and transforms beings through the long night. The so-called vajras and the rest are all the Buddha's wisdom and the gates of the Dharma. To receive, uphold, and revere them brings boundless blessing and benefit. Externally, they shatter the armies of Māra; internally, they subjugate afflictions. The beginnings of contemplative wisdom arise from this. Sons who seek the South must not fail to know this.
