"Great King! To cultivate letters as suchness is the mother of all buddhas' wisdom; the fundamental mother of wisdom of all sentient beings' natures is itself the substance of sarvajñā. Before buddhas attain buddhahood, they take their future buddhahood as the mother of wisdom; before it is attained, it is the nature, and once attained, it is sarvajñā. The prajñā of the three vehicles is neither born nor destroyed, and its intrinsic nature is permanently abiding. This is because all sentient beings take this as their awakening nature. If a bodhisattva is without grasping and without letters, free from letters yet not non-letters, cultivating non-cultivation as the cultivation of letters, he will attain the true nature of prajñā, the prajñāpāramitā. Great King! If a bodhisattva protects the Buddha, protects the transformation of sentient beings, and protects the practices of the ten stages, he does so in this manner."
