"Great King! The seven buddhas taught the Mahāprajñāpāramitā, and I now teach the prajñāpāramitā; there is neither duality nor difference. You great assembly should uphold, recite, and explain it. As for the merit of this sūtra: there are immeasurable, ineffable-ineffable buddhas; each buddha transforms and guides immeasurable, ineffable sentient beings, and each sentient being attains buddhahood; these buddhas again transform and guide immeasurable, ineffable sentient beings, who all attain buddhahood; these three buddhas above taught eighty billion verses of the Prajñāpāramitā Sūtra; within a single verse it is further divided into a thousand parts; and within a single part, the meaning of a single phrase explained cannot be exhausted—how much more so if one conceives a single thought of faith in this sūtra! The merit of such sentient beings surpasses [that of] a hundred kalpas, a thousand kalpas, and the ten stages; how much more so the merit of one who upholds, recites, and explains it, which is equal to and no different from that of the buddhas of the ten directions! You should know that this person is none other than a Tathāgata, and will attain buddhahood before long."
