The Buddha told the Great King: "One should make nine-colored banners ninety feet long; nine-colored flowers twenty feet high; a thousand-branched lamp fifty feet high; nine jade cases; nine jade cloths; and also make tables of the seven jewels upon which to place the sūtra. When the king travels, he should constantly have it precede him by a full hundred paces. This sūtra will constantly emit a thousand rays of light, causing the seven calamities not to arise and transgressions not to be produced within a thousand li. When the king halts, he should make a tent of the seven jewels, with a high seat of the seven jewels within it, and place the sūtra scrolls upon it, making offerings day after day by scattering flowers and burning incense, just as one serves one's father and mother, just as one serves Devendra Śakra.
