The Buddha said: "Great King! The Dharma-door is neither one nor immeasurable. Why is this? Because of sentient beings' dharmas of form and dharmas of mind, the characteristics of the five aggregates of clinging, the views of self and person, and their various faculties and practices being boundless in category, the Dharma-doors are also immeasurable according to their faculties. The nature of these dharmas is neither characteristic nor uncharacteristic, yet not immeasurable. If a bodhisattva, following sentient beings, sees oneness or sees twoness, then they do not see the meaning of oneness and twoness—to clearly understand that oneness and twoness are neither one nor two is the ultimate truth; to grasp at oneness and twoness as existent or non-existent is conventional truth—therefore, the Dharma-door is neither one nor two.
