2.49

「大王！我見諸國一切人王，皆由過去侍五百佛恭敬供養，得為帝王；一切聖人得道果者，來生其國，作大利益。若王福盡、無道之時，聖人捨去，災難競起。

"Great King! I see that all the kings of men in all states have become sovereigns entirely because in the past they attended upon, revered, and made offerings to five hundred Buddhas. All the sages who have attained the fruits of the path come to be born in their states to bring great benefit. If a king's merit is exhausted and he is without the Way, the sages depart, and calamities arise in contention.
