1.10

稽首三界尊　十方無量佛
我今發弘願　持此金剛經
上報四重恩　下濟三塗苦
若有見聞者　悉發菩提心
盡此一報身　同生極樂國
奉請八金剛

I bow my head to the Honoured One of the Three Realms
And the measureless Buddhas of the ten directions.
I now give rise to a vast vow
To uphold this Diamond Sūtra:
Above, to repay the four heavy debts of gratitude;
Below, to deliver the suffering of the three wretched realms.
If there are any who see or hear this,
May all give rise to the bodhicitta,
And when this single retributive body is exhausted,
May we be born together in the Land of Ultimate Bliss.
