1.22

空生初請問　善逝應機詶
先答云何住　次教如是修
胎生卵濕化　咸令悲智收
若起眾生見　還同著相求

Subhūti first made his request,
And the Sugata replied according to the capacity:
First answering how one should abide,
Next teaching how to cultivate thus.
Womb-born, egg-born, moisture-born, and transformed—
All are embraced by compassion and wisdom.
If one gives rise to the view of sentient beings,
One returns to seeking through clinging to marks.
