"Subhūti, if there were as many Ganges Rivers as the sands in the Ganges, what do you think? Would the grains of sand in all those Ganges Rivers be many?"
Subhūti said, "Very many, Bhagavat. Even the Ganges Rivers would be countless, let alone their grains of sand."
"Subhūti, I now declare to you in truth: if a good man or good woman filled as many trichiliocosms as the grains of sand in those Ganges Rivers with the seven jewels and gave them in donation, would their merit be great?"
Subhūti said, "Very great, Bhagavat."
The Buddha said to Subhūti, "If a good man or good woman accepts and upholds from this sūtra even as little as a four-line verse and speaks it to others, this merit far surpasses the former merit."
