演曰。上之三句正釋此文初句。五陰中有眾生可度者。此是取相過。次句以取五陰是眾生故。次句欲令眾生得解脫有如是相。即初句標餘二句釋。故為過也。

Exposition: The upper three lines directly explain this text. The first line: that within the five aggregates there are sentient beings to be crossed over—this is the fault of grasping at marks. The next line: because of grasping at the five aggregates as being sentient beings. The next line: wishing to cause sentient beings to attain liberation has such a mark. That is, the first line states it, and the remaining two lines explain it; therefore it is a fault.
