2.16

經。是故佛說至不應住色布施　演曰。第四結勸。引前所說諸菩薩心不住布施。此及魏經略舉於色。貞觀六塵皆稱不住。此舉經中初不住心起行方便以勸久學。或舉十地真行方便不住布施。以勸地前不住修行。如勸離相發菩提心。問。何故引施證忍勸發心耶。答。彼論釋云。以檀波羅蜜攝六波羅蜜故。

Sūtra: Therefore the Buddha says [...] should not dwell in form to practice giving. / Commentary: Fourth, concluding exhortation. Citing what was previously spoken—that the minds of bodhisattvas do not dwell [in form] when giving. Here and in the Wei translation, form is briefly cited; the Zhenguan [version] states that one does not dwell in any of the six sensory objects. This cites the expedient means of generating practice with a non-dwelling mind found early in the sūtra to exhort long-time practitioners. Or, it cites the expedient means of true practice of the ten grounds—not dwelling in giving—to exhort those before the grounds to cultivate without dwelling, just like exhorting them to be free from marks when generating the bodhi-mind. Question: Why is giving cited to prove patience and exhort the generation of the mind? Answer: That treatise explains: 'Because the perfection of giving subsumes the six perfections.'
