上二句喻非一義。下二句喻非異義。彼長行釋非一云。如微塵碎為末非一處住。以無有聚集物故。演曰。麁聚體無而微是有。各各別住故。望總聚名為不一。又釋非異義云。以聚集微塵差別不可得故。以差別不住故。演曰。即攬極微以為總聚。離微無聚故不可說異處。而住名為不異餘文可知。

The upper two lines illustrate the meaning of non-oneness. The lower two lines illustrate the meaning of non-difference. His prose commentary explains non-oneness, saying: 'Just as fine dust ground into powder does not abide in a single place, because there is no entity that is an aggregation.' The Exposition states: The coarse aggregation lacks substantial reality, whereas the particles do exist. Because each particle abides separately, relative to the aggregate collection it is called not one. Furthermore, he explains the meaning of non-difference, saying: 'Because a differentiation of the aggregated fine dust cannot be found, and because differentiations do not abide.' The Exposition states: That is, assembling the subtlest particles makes the aggregate collection. Apart from the particles there is no collection, so they cannot be said to abide in different places; this is called not different. The rest of the text is readily understood.
