2.68

經。佛告須菩提至滅度一切眾生　演曰。下答分二。初答所住等三對治所取。後辨能行者無正治能取。待所立能。所亡能滅故。初中答三即為三段。此初答住佛引十地菩薩勝行。為欲除破彼能所執令進入頂故以為答也。

Sūtra: The Buddha told Subhūti, "[…] to liberate all sentient beings."
Exposition: The reply below has two parts: first, replying to the three [questions regarding] where to abide and so forth cures the apprehended; second, explaining that the capable practitioner does not exist cures the apprehending. Since the capable is established in reliance on the object, when the object vanishes, the capable is eliminated. In the first part, replying to the three questions forms three sections. This first one replies to abiding: the Buddha cites the superior practices of bodhisattvas of the ten grounds in order to eradicate their grasping at both apprehending and apprehended, enabling them to advance into the summit stage; hence it serves as the reply.
