經。何以故　贊曰。此徵也。據真諦理。物我皆空。施尚不存。寧有其福。設就俗諦。施福不亡。但招生死。不趣菩提。而言福多。何以故也。

Sūtra: "Why is this?"

Commentary: This is the questioning. According to the principle of ultimate truth, both objects and self are empty; generosity itself does not exist, so how could there be its merit? Even if according to conventional truth the merit of generosity is not destroyed, it merely brings about birth-and-death and does not tend toward bodhi. Why, then, is it said that the merit is much?
