2.76

經。皆得成就至無邊功德　贊曰。次攝福。於中有二。初標福德多。後校量顯勝。此初也。以信行他持說經。福雖是有漏。聞熏習故。而能資長。本無漏遠與佛果圓滿四智而為疎緣。近與十地二無漏智亦為增上。亦與十地十王果報為異熟因。能成此因。得此等果故。言成就無邊功德。

Sūtra: "...will all achieve... boundless merit." / Commentary: Next is gathering merit. Within this there are two: first, marking the abundance of merit; later, weighing and revealing its superiority. This is the first. When a practitioner of faith upholds and explains the sūtra to others, although the merit is contaminated, because of listening and permeation, it can nurture and increase the original uncontaminated [seeds]. Remotely, it serves as a distant condition for the four wisdoms fulfilling the Buddha fruit; proximately, it serves as an augmenting condition for the twofold uncontaminated wisdom of the ten grounds. It also serves as the fruitional cause for the retribution of the ten kings of the ten grounds. Being able to accomplish this cause, one obtains these fruits; therefore it is said, "achieve boundless merit."
