1.36

經。須菩提南西北方四維上下虛空可思量不　第二廣引九方也。文復有二。名義如上。此即第一如來問也。言四維者不正之義也。

[Sūtra:] "Subhūti, can the space of the south, west, north, the four intermediate directions, above, and below be measured?" The second part broadly cites the nine directions. The text again has two parts, the names and meanings being as above. This is the first part, the Tathāgata's question. "The four intermediate directions" has the meaning of non-cardinal directions.
