Sūtra: 'As for all the various classes of sentient beings.' / Second, this specifically teaches the modes of practice for generating the four minds. The text specifically has four parts: first, clarifying the vast mind; second, clarifying the supreme mind; third, clarifying the constant mind; fourth, clarifying the non-erroneous mind. Within the vast mind, the text specifically has two parts: first, generally setting forth; later, specifically revealing. This is the general setting forth. 'Vast' means revealing the mind in relation to the objective realm; because the objective realm is broad and pervasive, the mind is called vast. 'All the various classes of sentient beings' generally sets forth all sentient beings of the four modes of birth, the three realms, and so forth. Thus Asaṅga's treatise states: 'This is a general description.' As for 'sentient beings' (zhong sheng), the *Mahāprajñāpāramitopadeśa* states: 'Being born amidst the combination of the five aggregates is called a sentient being.'
