1.29

第五廣明得失勸修。初修從佛告彌勒菩薩諸天人等訖如教奉行不敢有疑。所以明得失者對彌勒更舉彼土菩薩天人及以妙土。是眾生所應得而貪著於五欲。鬪諍於錢財。乃以父母兄弟皆無義理。不知棄之以修善。是六失。就此章中復有四子句。

Fifth, broadly explaining gains and losses to encourage cultivation. The initial cultivation runs from 'The Buddha said to Maitreya Bodhisattva, the gods, humans, and others' down to 'practicing according to the teaching, not daring to have doubts.' The reason gains and losses are explained is that [the Buddha] again brings up to Maitreya the bodhisattvas, gods, and humans of that land, as well as the wondrous land: these are what sentient beings ought to attain, yet they greedily cling to the five desires and contend over money and wealth, so that even between parents and siblings there is no righteousness, and they do not know to discard them to cultivate the good. These are the six losses. Within this chapter there are again four sub-clauses.
