Sūtra: "The fifth untimely death is being drowned by water."
Five: drowning in waters. This person's karma for lifespan is indefinite; it is the dominant result of submerging and drowning sentient beings. If they encounter supportive conditions such as cultivating merit to aid them, they will not be drowned by water, and their lifespan will be prolonged. If not, they will be drowned by water and their lifespan will be short; therefore it is an untimely death.
