慧觀昔因問道得履京華備踐講筵十有餘載遂逢永淳飢餒杖錫旋歸疑痼膏肓罔知析滯每翫味茲典常諷誦受持然粗薄通麁得文意不量闇短輒述所聞捃摭群□□□疏例豈敢傳諸學私將□□□□披尋時聞示過。

Formerly, on account of seeking the Way, I, Huiguan, was able to set foot in the capital and fully attend lecture halls for more than ten years. Then, encountering the famine of the Yongchun era, taking up my staff I returned home. Doubts clung inveterately to the vitals, and I was unable to resolve my difficulties. Constantly relishing this scripture, I frequently recited and upheld it; yet having only a rough, slight comprehension and grasping merely the crude literal meaning, without measuring my own ignorance and shortcomings, I have rashly set down what I heard, gleaning from various [...] commentary examples. How could I dare transmit this to other scholars? I have privately [...] so that when leafing through and inspecting it, I may at any time hear my errors pointed out.
