Next, the second part explains dharma being free from marks with respect to the eighteen dhātus. In the text there are nineteen clauses, divided in meaning into two parts: first, one clause explains pudgala-nairātmya; later, eighteen clauses explain dharma-nairātmya. In the first clause, regarding "Dharma has no 'mine'," it directly explains that the principle is absent [of 'mine']. That is, within the true Dharma there is neither self nor 'mine,' the meaning being as explained above. "Because it is free from 'mine'" explains to reveal its absence. In the dharma-nairātmya below, although there are eighteen clauses, they group into three: first, six clauses explain the emptiness of the six sense faculties; from "Dharma has no movement" onward, five clauses explain the emptiness of the six consciousnesses; from "Dharma is free from good and ugly" onward, seven clauses explain the emptiness of the six sense objects. In the first six clauses, the first three refute marks, and the latter three identify with reality. In the first three, the first clause explains the emptiness of the faculties in terms of consciousness; the second reveals the emptiness of the faculties in terms of sense objects; the third demonstrates the emptiness of the faculties in terms of cause.
