From here below, the third [part] clarifies that all dharmas are equal. In the text there are three [divisions]: first, it clarifies that the minds of bodhisattvas are equal; second, it clarifies that the virtues of all Buddhas are equal; third, it displays supremacy through the comparative teachings of the Mahāyāna and Hīnayāna. In the first of these, "bodhisattvas entering this door" refers to bodhisattvas who have attained forbearance realizing and entering the teaching of the equality of all Buddhas. If they behold all pure and wondrous buddha lands, "they do not rejoice, they are neither greedy nor proud" means: upon first beholding them they do not rejoice; upon taking birth there they are not greedy; dwelling therein they are not proud. "They do not sorrow, they are without obstruction and do not sink down" means: with respect to impure lands, upon first beholding them they do not sorrow; taking birth there they encounter no obstruction; dwelling therein they do not sink down. Since the bodhisattvas have entered this door and know the equality of the buddha bodies and pure lands, this is called "generating a pure mind." Yet they manifest myriad differences to assist and benefit all classes of beings; therefore it says, "they rejoiced, revering what they had never had before." This refers to the distant inspiration felt by the bodhisattvas of the Realm of Multitudinous Fragrances.
