From here on, [the text] follows the preceding untiring cultivation and gathering of wholesome practices. Within the text there are three [parts]. First, five lines explain transforming others through the three karmas, revealing practice directed toward others. Second, from "purifying the ten wholesome [actions]" downward, seven lines explain their personal attainment, which is practice for self-benefit. In the first [part], "not destroying deportment while being able to conform to worldly ways" refers to transformation through bodily karma: although conforming to the worldly, in bending down and looking up, going and coming, one does not destroy the ceremonial rules of the Path. "Giving rise to supernormal faculties and wisdom to lead sentient beings" explains mental karma: when transforming those whose sight of outward form does not reach the Path, without supernormal transformations there would be no means to guide beings, and without wisdom there would be no means to open the way and instruct them. "Attaining the dhāraṇī of mindfulness, not forgetting what has been heard": mindfulness refers to signless right mindfulness; having attained strong power of mindfulness, through the dual retention of letter and meaning, throughout successive lifetimes it is not lost, and across kalpas it becomes ever brighter; therefore it is said, "not forgetting." "Skilfully distinguishing the faculties, cutting off the doubts of sentient beings" explains transformation through vocal karma: skilfully discerning the capacities of beings, one severs their doubts, causing them to give rise to faith and joy. "Preaching the Dharma without hindrance through unimpeded eloquence in joyful exposition" is one of the four types of unimpeded eloquence: although preaching the Dharma, one does not grasp at its signs, and therefore there is no hindrance.
