佛告大迦葉汝行詣維摩詰問疾　文二同上。此初命也。迦葉此云龜。亦曰欽光。皆取其明義。肇曰。迦葉弟子中頭陀苦行第一。出婆羅門種姓迦葉也。

The Buddha said to Mahākāśyapa: "Go to Vimalakīrti to inquire after his illness." The text has two parts, the same as above. This is the first part, the command. Kāśyapa is translated here as "Tortoise", and also called "Admirer of Light", both taking the sense of brightness. Sengzhao says: "Among the disciples, Kāśyapa is foremost in dhūta ascetic practices; he came from the brāhmaṇa caste, the Kāśyapa clan."
