所以者何。憶念。我昔於一處經行。時有梵王。名曰嚴淨。與萬梵俱放淨光明。來詣我所稽首作禮問我言幾何阿那律天眼所見　二略釋。文二。此初梵王問也。阿那律修證天眼。梵王業報天眼。欲比其優劣故致問也。

"Why is this? I recall that in the past I was walking back and forth in one place. At that time, a Brahmā king named Śubhavyūha, together with ten thousand Brahmās, radiating pure light, came to where I was, bowed his head in homage, and asked me: 'How much does Aniruddha's divine eye see?'" The second part briefly explains. The text has two [parts]; this is first, the Brahmā king's question. Aniruddha had cultivated and realized the divine eye, while the Brahmā king had the divine eye through karmic retribution. Wishing to compare their superiority and inferiority, he posed this question.
