佛告羅睺羅。汝行詣維摩詰問疾　肇曰。羅睺羅秦言覆障。六年為母胎所障。因以為名。弟子中持戒第一。又云。密行第一。故法華經云。羅睺羅密行唯我能證知。

The Buddha said to Rāhula: "Go to Vimalakīrti and inquire about his illness." / Sengzhao says: Rāhula in Qin is "Obstruction and Concealment." For six years he was obstructed by his mother's womb, and took his name from this. Among the disciples, he is foremost in upholding the precepts; another [source] says he is foremost in esoteric practice. Therefore, the Lotus Sūtra says: "Rāhula's esoteric practice, only I can bear witness to and know."
