行矣。阿難勿使我等受斯恥也。外道梵志若聞此語。當作是念。何名為師。自疾不能救。而能救諸疾人。可密速。去勿使人聞　此下二明損謗也。苟執不去。非徒佛有斯謗我等亦受其恥。肇曰。正士聞則謂汝不達。邪士聞則謂佛實病。何名為法之良醫。身疾不能救。而欲救人心疾乎。

"Go, Ānanda! Do not cause us to suffer this disgrace. If tīrthikas and brāhmaṇas hear these words, they will think: 'How can he be called a teacher? He cannot even cure his own illness, yet he would cure the illnesses of others!' Go quickly in secret, and do not let anyone hear [this]." Below, second, explaining the slander of diminishment. If he stubbornly insists and does not leave, not only will the Buddha suffer this slander, but we too shall suffer this disgrace. Sengzhao says: "If righteous people hear it, they will say you do not comprehend. If wicked people hear it, they will say the Buddha is truly ill: 'How can he be called a good physician of the Dharma? He cannot cure the illness of his own body, yet he wishes to cure the mental illnesses of others!'"
