爾時維摩詰問眾香菩薩。香積如來以何說法　此第二明淨穢二土。應緣作化佛事不同。此初問淨土也。

At that time, Vimalakīrti asked the bodhisattvas of Multitude of Fragrances: "By what means does the Tathāgata Gandhahastin preach the Dharma?" (This is the second major section, explaining the different ways the two lands, pure and defiled, perform the Buddha's work according to conditions. This is the first, inquiring about the pure land.)
