菩薩各各坐香樹下聞斯妙香。即獲一切德藏三昧。得是三昧者。菩薩所有功德皆悉具足　三昧等也。肇曰。此三昧力能生諸功德也　彼菩薩問維摩詰。今世尊釋迦牟尼以何說法　此二明穢土。文四。一問。二答。三讚。四述。此初也。

"The bodhisattvas each sit beneath a fragrant tree and, smelling this exquisite fragrance, immediately obtain the samādhi of the treasury of all virtues. Those who obtain this samādhi have all the virtues of a bodhisattva fully complete." (The samādhi and the rest. Sengzhao says: "The power of this samādhi can generate all virtues.") Those bodhisattvas asked Vimalakīrti: "Now, by what means does the World-Honoured One, Śākyamuni, preach the Dharma?" (This is the second, explaining the defiled land, in four parts: 1. Question, 2. Answer, 3. Praise, 4. Affirmation. This is the first.)
