"Thereupon the two monks said: 'Supreme wisdom indeed! This is beyond Upāli's reach—he who is paramount in upholding the Vinaya could not speak of this.'" From here down is the second part, praise and submission, having three sections: first, the monks' praise; second, the Venerable One's admission of error; third, the monks' generation of the aspiration. This is the first, the praise. Sengzhao says: "The two monks awakened to the fact that offenses are eternally pure and had no further doubts or remorse; hence they offered this praise."
