"Therefore, Mañjuśrī, ordinary beings have reciprocity toward the Buddha Dharma, but voice-hearers do not. Why is this? When ordinary beings hear the Buddha Dharma, they can give rise to the supreme aspiration for the path and not sever the Three Jewels. Even if voice-hearers spend their whole lives hearing the Buddha Dharma, the powers, fearlessnesses, and so forth, they can never generate the supreme intention for the path." Fourth, concluding on the lack of reciprocity: ordinary beings can achieve bodhi so as to repay the Buddha's kindness; those of the two vehicles cease and extinguish, forever cutting it off.
