"For those fallen into defilements, causing them to generate right mindfulness; not considering the bliss of aloofness to be noble; not clinging to one's own bliss, but rejoicing in the bliss of others." Not delighting in defilements, yet not prizing nirvāṇa: this is the transformation wrought by the mahāsattva. Sengzhao says: "How is the path of solitary goodness worthy of being prized? 'Not clinging to one's own bliss', and so forth, is the mind of the mahāsattva."
