1.23

經曰或樹下經行或六通自在者　述曰。智德也。或樹下經行者頭陀自利之背。即依問以專修。或六通自在者獲果利他之儅。即起通而益物也。

[The sūtra says:] "'or practicing caṅkramaṇa under the trees, or having mastery of the six supernormal knowledges,'" / The commentary says: This is the virtue of wisdom. "Or practicing caṅkramaṇa under the trees" refers to the cohort of dhūta practitioners benefiting themselves, who rely on quietude to cultivate exclusively. "Or having mastery of the six supernormal knowledges" refers to the cohort of those who have attained the fruits and benefit others, who arouse supernormal powers to benefit beings.
