[When] the sūtra states, 'The monk Maudgalyāyana and the fourfold assembly of disciples practiced [the teaching]': The commentary says: The fifth is receiving the command. The Tathāgata sent down this rain of Dharma to moisten all living beings; as the assembly was about to disperse, the fragrance was transmitted from the seats. Maudgalyāyana and the others all received the command, crowned their heads with it, and practiced it. Having borne the holy kindness, by principle their minds were joyful.
