"If a bhikṣu sits with a woman in an open, visible place unsuitable for engaging in sexual intercourse, and utters coarse and wicked words, and a trustworthy upāsikā charges [him] according to one of the two rules—either a saṃghāvaśeṣa or a prāyaścittika—and the sitting bhikṣu confesses, 'I committed this matter,' he should be dealt with according to whichever of the two rules [he confessed to]—either a saṃghāvaśeṣa or a prāyaścittika; as stated by the trustworthy upāsikā, he should be dealt with in accordance with the Dharma: this bhikṣu [is subject to what] is called an indeterminate rule."
The clauses of this precept are the same as before, also being four: First, up to "coarse words" is the indeterminacy of the offense. Second, from "and a trustworthy" onward is the indeterminacy of the charge. Third, from "and the sitting bhikṣu" onward is the indeterminacy of the confession. Fourth, from "as stated by the trustworthy" onward is the indeterminacy of dealing with the offense. It is only that the offenses differ between two and three; the remaining meanings are all equal to the previous precept, and therefore are not explained again.
Below, the clauses of the text are distinguished in detail. The first section also has six; they are cited and explained one by one:
"If a bhikṣu": the same as before.
"A woman": likewise.
"An open, visible place": meaning without the obstruction of walls.
"A place unsuitable for engaging in sexual intercourse": a place incapable of accommodating the act of sexual intercourse.
"Utters coarse and wicked words": speaking of sexual desire and impure conduct, praising or disparaging the two tracts.
The above six clauses constitute the indeterminacy of the offense. The subsequent clauses are identical in text and meaning to the above.
