Thirty-five: Knowing that a monk has finished eating and has not undergone the rite of leftover food, forcefully urging him to take his fill in order to vex him: an offense of pāyattika. After the precept on leftover food was formulated, there were two monks: one upheld the precepts, and one did not uphold the precepts very much. The one who upheld the precepts saw the other eating repeatedly and rebuked him more than once. That person could not bear it, and wishing to cause him to commit a fault, knowing that he had not received leftover food, he watched for him to be unmindful and, in order to vex and annoy him, forcefully urged him to eat. When he ate, he immediately ridiculed him. Both persons incur an offense of pāyattika. If one urges him without knowing, there is no offense.
