上品已制名立字。然名不虛稱。必有稱名之行。故今次明涉求修觀。觀三諦入道證聖等果。立體各各四十二人盡已。生法二空。二諦空。中道第一義諦空。觀解為體。故名學觀品也。

The previous chapter established the names and designations. However, names are not empty appellations; there must be practices that correspond to the names. Therefore, next is explained undertaking the search and cultivating contemplation: contemplating the three truths to enter the path and realize fruits such as noble [attainment]. Having fully established the forty-two persons each as entities, the twofold emptiness of persons and dharmas, the emptiness of the two truths, and the emptiness of the middle way supreme truth—with contemplative understanding as their substance—are why it is called the 'Chapter on Learning Contemplation'.
