First, explaining the doctrine that the effect exists in the cause has two parts: 1. Stating their view, which has two parts: (1) Explaining those who identify and uphold the doctrine; (2) Explaining the reasons for establishing the doctrine, which has two parts: [a] Question; [b] Answer, which has two parts: <i> General answer; <ii> Detailed explanation, which has two parts: <A> Scriptural authority; <B> Reasoning, which has four parts: {i} Explaining the proponents of the doctrine, which has two parts: a. Explaining the adherents; b. Explaining the reasons for establishing the doctrine; {ii} Explaining the doctrinal view, which has five parts: a. Establishing the doctrine from designations; b. Establishing the doctrine from seeking and taking; c. Establishing the doctrine from the determinateness of what is made; d. Establishing the doctrine from production; e. Conclusion; {iii} Explaining the flaws, which has four parts: a. The flaw of confusion in designation; b. The flaw of confusion in what is sought; c. The flaw of confusion in exertion; d. The flaw of confusion in the arising of the fruit; {iv} General conclusion; 2. Extensively refuting the heterodox view, which has four parts: (1) Refuting by proper reasoning, which has four parts: [a] Refuting through the absence of distinct characteristics; [b] Refuting through the characteristic of being as yet unproduced; [c] Refuting through the characteristic of having already been produced; [d] Explaining the correct meaning; (2) Demonstrating through analogies, which has two parts: [a] Presentation; [b] Explanation, which has five parts, as in the treatise; (3) Revealing their flaws; (4) General conclusion.
