第三廣解分十七中第七明護戒要義分二　一依數思正理明護戒義分三。一立因。二顯果。三明結勸　二依教明護戒義分三。一依經藏明護戒相。二依本母明護戒相。三結勸。

In the seventeen divisions of the third detailed explanation, seventh is clarifying the essential meaning of guarding the precepts, divided into two: 1. based on repeatedly contemplating correct reasoning, clarifying the meaning of guarding the precepts, divided into three: (1) establishing the cause; (2) demonstrating the fruit; (3) clarifying the summary exhortation; 2. based on the scriptural teaching, clarifying the meaning of guarding the precepts, divided into three: (1) based on the Sūtra Piṭaka, clarifying the characteristics of guarding the precepts; (2) based on the mātṛkā, clarifying the characteristics of guarding the precepts; (3) summary exhortation.
