Within the nine parts of the fourth, detailed explanations, the eighth, explaining beneficial action for happiness in this world and the next world, is divided into three: 1. general question; 2. brief answer; 3. separate explanations, which are divided into three: 1) establishing four types of beneficial action for happiness in the two worlds based on purifying bodily action, divided into four: i. explaining beneficial action for happiness in the two worlds based on abstaining from killing living beings; ii. explaining beneficial action for happiness in the two worlds based on abstaining from taking what is not given; iii. explaining beneficial action for happiness in the two worlds based on abstaining from sexual misconduct; iv. explaining beneficial action for happiness in the two worlds based on abstaining from alcohol, the ground of heedlessness; 2) establishing four types of beneficial action for happiness in the two worlds based on purifying verbal action, divided into four: i. explaining beneficial action for happiness in the two worlds based on abstaining from false speech; ii. explaining beneficial action for happiness in the two worlds based on abstaining from divisive speech; iii. explaining beneficial action for happiness in the two worlds based on abstaining from harsh speech; iv. explaining beneficial action for happiness in the two worlds based on abstaining from frivolous speech; 3) establishing beneficial action for happiness in the two worlds based on purifying mental action, divided into three: i. explaining beneficial action for happiness in the two worlds based on abstaining from covetousness; ii. explaining beneficial action for happiness in the two worlds based on abstaining from ill will; iii. explaining beneficial action for happiness in the two worlds based on abstaining from wrong view.
