第一第二合明緣起自性及善巧相分四　一明自性及義正體分三。一總問。二廣答分十三如論。三總結　第二釋名分二如論　第三明十二有支順次生義分五。一明無明現行因分二。一立因。二顯果。二明諸行轉因分二。一立因。二顯果。三明諸行生因分二。一立因。二顯果。四明識轉因分二。一立因。二顯果。五例明餘支生因　第四明十二有支假實有義分二。一明假有義。二明實有義　第三廣明十二有支差別善巧相分七如下所明。

The first and second parts together explain the intrinsic nature and characteristic of skill regarding dependent origination, having four [subparts]: 1. explaining the intrinsic nature and proper substance of the meaning, which has three [points]: (1) general question, (2) detailed answer, having thirteen [points] as in the treatise, (3) general conclusion; 2. explaining the name, having two [points] as in the treatise; 3. explaining the meaning of the forward-order arising of the twelve factors of existence, which has five [points]: (1) explaining the cause of the active functioning of ignorance, having two [aspects]: i. establishing the cause, ii. revealing the fruit; (2) explaining the cause of the operation of formative actions, having two [aspects]: i. establishing the cause, ii. revealing the fruit; (3) explaining the cause of the arising of formative actions, having two [aspects]: i. establishing the cause, ii. revealing the fruit; (4) explaining the cause of the operation of consciousness, having two [aspects]: i. establishing the cause, ii. revealing the fruit; (5) illustrating by analogy the causes of arising of the remaining factors; 4. explaining the meaning of conventional and substantial existence of the twelve factors of existence, which has two [points]: (1) explaining the meaning of conventional existence, (2) explaining the meaning of substantial existence. The third extensively explains the characteristic of skill regarding distinctions among the twelve factors of existence, having seven [subparts] as explained below.
