初門依隨境界轉等明建立善巧相分六。一依能取境增上義立眼等六根。二依安立家族增上義立男女二根。三依活性命事義立命根。四依受用果增上義立苦等五根。五依安立世間清淨增上義立信等五根。六依出世清淨增上義立未知已知根等三根。

The first approach explains the characteristics of establishing kauśalya based on following along with the objective sphere and so forth, having six parts: 1. establishing the six faculties—the eye and the rest—based on the predominant meaning of being able to apprehend objects; 2. establishing the two faculties of masculinity and femininity based on the predominant meaning of establishing the family; 3. establishing the life-faculty based on the meaning of sustaining the life-activity; 4. establishing the five faculties of suffering and so forth based on the predominant meaning of experiencing the fruit; 5. establishing the five faculties of faith and so forth based on the predominant meaning of establishing worldly purification; 6. establishing the three faculties of the faculty of learning what is unknown and so forth based on the predominant meaning of supramundane purification.
