Third, explaining nose-consciousness is divided into five: 1. Clarifying its svabhāva is divided into two: inquiry; answer. Second, clarifying its āśraya is divided into two: general statement; explanation divided into two: clarifying the three āśrayas divided into three: sahabhū-āśraya divided into two (statement; explanation); samanantara-āśraya divided into two (statement; explanation); bīja-āśraya divided into two (statement; explanation); explaining the three dharmas of the nose and so on divided into two: clarifying the nose faculty (indriya); making analogous the remaining mind and seed. Third, clarifying the ālambana is divided into three: statement; brief answer; explanation divided into three: listing names divided into two (statement; enumerating the number); clarifying alternate denominations; clarifying the ālambanas of the two consciousnesses divided into two: the ālambana of nose-consciousness; the ālambana of mental consciousness. Fourth and fifth, jointly clarifying the sahāya and karman, which are analogous to the preceding.
