1.12

次第二能變　是識名末那
依彼轉緣彼　思量為性相
四煩惱常俱　謂我癡我見
并我愛我慢　及餘觸等俱
有覆無記攝　隨所生所繫
阿羅漢滅定　出世道無有

Next is the second transformation; / this consciousness is called manas.
It evolves dependent on that, taking that as its object; / its nature and characteristic are manana.
Four afflictions are constantly associated with it: / namely, self-ignorance and self-view,
together with self-pride and self-love, / and it is also associated with the remaining [caittas] such as contact.
It is subsumed under obscured indeterminate, / bound to whatever [plane] one is born into;
it does not exist in the arhat, in the attainment of cessation, / nor on the supramundane path.
