異熟即識熟屬現行者。此分四句又約六釋釋異熟識三字名也。此中所言異熟識者。若異熟屬於現行現行是識。異熟與識既無別體。異熟即識名異熟識。持業釋也。

Regarding "maturation is itself consciousness, where maturation belongs to active functioning": Here it is divided into four clauses, and again interprets the three-character name "vipāka-vijñāna" (different-maturation consciousness) according to the six compound interpretations. What is called "vipāka-vijñāna" here: if vipāka belongs to active functioning, active functioning is consciousness. Since vipāka and consciousness have no distinct entity, vipāka is itself consciousness, termed "vipāka-vijñāna"—a karmadhāraya compound.
