剎那別緣不專一者。定能令心前念後念於境專注相續而住。此識但能念念前後各自別緣而住。於境無專注義故無定數。

Regarding "taking distinct objects from moment to moment and not being concentrated": Concentration (samādhi) can cause the mind, from preceding moment to succeeding moment, to abide focused and continuously on an object. This consciousness merely abides taking its own distinct object from moment to moment, before and after. Toward objects, it lacks the sense of focused absorption; hence it has no mental factor of concentration.
