The treatise says: "Because objects exist, [...] six kinds of aspects arise."

The commentary says: Above, the subtle aspects were clarified; below, the coarse aspects are revealed. In this there are two parts: a general introduction and a specific explanation. This is the introduction. The six aspects are all generated by the discriminating empirical consciousness based on the condition of objects. In this, the first two arise as grasping based on objects, which are the lower grade [of delusions]. Since they are subtle delusions, they are severed on the bhūmi stages. The next two kinds give rise to afflictions based on grasping; these are intermediate delusions, because they are severed by the two vehicles. The latter two kinds involve receiving retributions based on karma; they are upper-grade coarse delusions, because they are known by ordinary worldlings. Therefore the sūtra states: "Stirred by the wind of objects, the waves of the various kinds of consciousness surge and arise in turn."
